Sam & Angeline’s pre-wedding shoot at the Heritage Station Hotel (aka Heritage Hotel)

It was indeed a pleasure to work with Sam & Angeline for their pre-wedding shoot last Sunday. The lovely couple were both in white for the location shoot at the Heritage Station Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. For the uninitiated, the Heritage is located in the 123 year-old railway station near the National Mosque just off the city centre. Here’s a wikipedia page on the historical building.

Anyway, back to Sam & Angeline’ shoot. We started in Teng Wei’s studio in the morning and proceeded to the Heritage after lunch. Originally, we had planned to do the shoot in the verdant Titiwangsa park but somehow Sam & Angeline got wind of the Heritage and he requested for the shoot to be done there.

I had visited the Heritage exactly a year ago when it’s new manager Lloyd Gan started an initiative to open the venue to Malaysian wedding photographers & couples as a community service. I was awed by the very impressive interiors and architecture of the building … I wondered when I would have a chance to do a real wedding photography shoot there. So when I heard Sam’s request, I got down to work refreshing my 1 year-old memory of the building.

Here are some images we captured of the lovely couple. Thanks to Sam & Angeline for their patience, and Teng Wei, Brian Moh and Hing for their support. As a team, Teng Wei also shot with his Leica M8 with Hing’s assistance and Brian (who’s a photographer with The Star) was a great help, especially with lights and posing. Enough said, here’re some of my shots from the shoot.

Congratulations to Sam & Angeline on your union and thank you for your faith & confidence!

Post Script: I have received many enquiries as a result of this shoot. Amongst others, the most asked question was “Are you shooting for y**mseng.com?”

My answer to that is a categorical “No, I am not shooting for them.” When I did this shoot, I was told it was one of the program leader’s clients. That’s all. So to put matters to rest, I would like to say that I am neither associated with nor do I have any interest in y**mseng.com. Thank you.

I could not help screaming when these photos 1st appeared in my eyes. However, the color tone is a bit darker that might not suit the people who wants sth colorful and brighter for their wedding. Anyway, it is a great piecework!

Thanks Kerry, let’s meet up when your schedule’s easier.

Really appreciate your feedback Siew Li. Hahahaha did the people around you think you went bonkers when you screamed?

LOL my wife said the very same thing about the tone and I promised her to do a bright & breezy set next. This one I call (amongst other descriptions) my quietly elegant, moody style. I had a quick word with the couple on the day of the shoot and found out they liked some mood in their photos, so I think it’ll work for them … different strokes for different folks. Thanks again :)

hahahaha thanks Jennifer …. this place is very popular with newly weds… I noticed him & his party at the other end of the corridor, took a shot when the couple broke out in laughter & I instinctively shot again when I noticed him turn around. Jealous? LOL don’t know but I’d guess envious of the fun at our end.

Actually, you don’t have to get married again …. just have an anniversary do & I’ll be there :)

[…] That coupled with the backlit glass in the arches. As for color, you’lll notice that this is the only shot in the entire set that’s in color… and that’s to remind me of the warm golden light the scene was bathed in. All the […]
