Uncanny similarity?

Close but not quite, I guess. But you judge for yourself …

What I shot in early August (click image for large version) …

And the image that world renowned wedding photographer Jerry Ghionis used for his facebook event page for his Kuala Lumpur seminar back in September …

Frankly, I do not recall ever seeing Jerry’s photo before and I certainly did not shoot mine with his in mind. In terms of point of view, or perspective, I was just trying to capture the glorious and dramatic shadows that the late afternoon sun was casting on the floor. That coupled with the backlit glass in the arches. As for color, you’lll notice that this is the only shot in the entire set that’s in color… and that’s to remind me of the warm golden light the scene was bathed in. All the other shots were given an old monochrome treatment.

So imagine my fascination when I saw his obviously superior image on facebook for the event. I can’t remember exactly when that was but I guess late August. Anyway, many of my buddies commented to me about the similarity and bumping into talented photographer Matt Marzuki today inspired me to put up this post.

So there you go … coincidences do happen, doppelgangers do exist. Life is like a box of chocolates … and that’s probably my one in a million chance of ever associating with one of the world’s greatest wedding photographers today LOL
