Someone likes my Thaipusam pics?

Posted by kckong under: Life on the web; website admin.

A friend just alerted me that the Thaipusam pics I uploaded yesterday have been “borrowed” by an Indian-centric news site ilaka.com.

Here’s a few screenshots of my images on that site… Click on them thumbs for larger versions

I had uploaded an entire batch of more than 50 Thaipusam pics on my flckr account and I’m not sure how many ilaka has used. I really didn’t have the time to find out because you have to refresh their page to see another pic.

What baffles me is how they “harvested” the links to the small sized photos. I know that it’s not displayed on the flickr pages. The only way (that I know of) is to right-click on the image and lift the URL of the image. I can imagine someone at ilaka sitting there harvesting URLs for more than 50 of my photos … 71 to be exact!

And not only that, they also had a link back to my flickr pages for each image labeled “flickr ®” . That’s another round of URL harvesting, mind you!

Hmmmm, I really don’t know how I should feel about this. Naturally, I’m delighted that someone thinks my images are nice enough to use on their site. Though I would have appreciated if they had mentioned my name as the owner and creator of the image.

I really should get in touch with these guys soon :)
